Harlow u7 v Chingford

Well with both teams having a good turnout of players it meant Harlow and Chingford could both field 2 teams.

Harlow A contained Ethan Jones, Lucian Mignot, Freddie Sawyers, Jack Rowlandson and Finn Kelman.

Harlow B contained Connie Peachey, William Forde, Tommy Barratt, Luke Townsend and Oliver

Harlow A v Chingford A
Chingford A had several players that seemed to tower above our players which soon gave them an advantage with Harlow backing off and allowing space for Chingford to run into. It wasn't all bad news for Harlow with a few individual flashes of brilliance from Jack Rowlandson who amassed 3 tries and great support by Freddie whom finished off a good team try.

Harlow A v Chingford B
Score Harlow 6 v Chingford 2 - Jack Rowlandson all 6 tries. (This was ref'd by Neil)

Harlow B v Chingford A
Score Harlow 5 - Chingford 6
With Chingford again seeming to have a size advantage Chingford quickly took the lead only for Harlow to score back immediately with a combination of Tommy Barrett and Will Forde tries. With tries going back and forth unfortunately Harlow ran out of game time narrowly losing.

Harlow A v Chingford A
Size difference seemed to play a further factor in the rematch of the first game. Harlow quickly went behind 2 tries to nil. Several good tags by Chingford and a foot out of bounds saw Harlow narrowly miss out on pulling back a try. Harlow end with a narrow loss 2 tries to 4, with Jack Rowlandson scoring both of Harlows tries.

Harlow B vs Chingford B
A great start to the chilly day with Tommy Barrett running through an excellent starting try, matched later with tries from Connie Peachey and Will Forde. Chingford played well but kept putting feet out of the pitch giving Harlow an advantage on the turn.

Harlow B vs Chingford B (2)
The return match had Harlow sub our own platers to take on some spare Wansted players, who contributed well to a balanced game with Chingford to end 5-5.

Harlow u9 v Wansted
This week the U9s entertained our old adversaries Wanstead. Having played them a few times this year we are beginning to know their 'go to' player whilst I am sure they are aware of our 'go to' players!!

Wansted who arrived with 11 players so we agreed to split our players into two teams and then play Wansted twice with a Harlow v Harlow game in the middle.

Results:
Harlow v Wansted Lost 7-8
Harlow Reds v Harlow Blues Won 7-2
Harlow v Wansted Won 6-5

1st Game Harlow v Wansted Lost 7-8
This game was split into two halves played at the start and the end of the session with contrasting performances in each half from the Harlow team.  The first Harlow team took to the pitch determined not to let the cold weather and muddy pitch deter them. However, poor tackling cost us dearly and despite 2 tries from Montel we went down 2-7. All of Wanstead' tries came their 'go to' player. It was only half a game as our boys played the second half later in the morning. Coach Westy gave the boys a stern talking too about tackling and made the boys look each other in the eyes and they promised not to let their team mates down again. Henry was reminded of the deal with coach Westy and new coach Simon 'insurance' Stovell about clean tackles and in the next game Simon wished he'd underwritten his deal better!!

The first Harlow team then played the second half against Wanstead and boy out came a different team. Henry '£10' Stovell put in 2 clean tackles and all the team played like demons and gave a brilliant account of themselves and never gave up. In the event the try count just went in favour of the Wanstead boys down to their 'go to' player.

2nd Game Harlow Reds v Harlow Bibs Won 7-2
The Harlow boys then played each other. The blues against the reds. Archie Allen made some bullocking trade mark runs, though one try was almost not given after he chose the Ashton 'splash' meant he lost control of the ball. Coach Onion was mis-sighted (not keeping up with play) and gave the try. All the boys and Amity played amazingly well and the blues just came out on top.

3rd Game Harlow v Wansted Won 6-5
Then the second Harlow team played Wansted and took to the pitch adamant that they were not going to suffer defeat. Excellent running from Joe 'fast' Court who is starting to listen to the coaches advice about not running to the touchline meant a quick start for Harlow. The tackling was immense and the passing crisp which was remarkable as the ball now resembled a blob of pure mud!
Harlow ran out winners after Tobie scored a try, taking a switch from James Forde and running in unopposed. Montel was his usual side stepping self blasting over for tries. Jake had some good runs and we got the old Owen Eynon back. Perhaps he should be captain every week! Tobie put in a monstrous hit and drove a Wanstead player back fully 15 yards, picking the loose ball and just falling short of another try. One of his team mates however picked it up and Harlow scored ending a fantastic morning of rugby. Tobie was named deserved man of the match by coach 'PC' Jay.

Mazy running from Tobie Westbrook ensured tries for Joe as well as for Tobie. Harlow ran out deserving winners in a close fought contest 6-5.

Today's Man of the match:
Tobie Westbrook

Players:
Archie Allen, Jake Collier, Joe Court, Owen Eynon, James Forde, Dylan Hodges, Callum Hewlett, Corey Kelman, Montelle Levy, Amity Mignot, Jacque Mignot, Jacob Morgan, Will Pite, Bailey Smith, George Snowdon, Henry Stovell, Freddie Thurley, Tobie Westbrook, Oscar Woodward

Harlow u12 v Chingford
Harlow 35 Chingford 20
Harlow hosted the Chingford U12’s who worked together on a joint training session followed by a game. Chingford kindly lent Harlow some players do make an 11-a-side game which was beneficial to both teams.
Harlow started well with Sidney Ward scoring the first try, closely followed by a second Harlow try scored by Michael Donovan. Chingford pulled one back but this was countered by one of the on-loan players (Andrew) scoring for Harlow to make it 15-5 at half time.
The second half started with Chingford scoring another try early on, but then Harlow turned the pressure on and further Harlow tries by Olly Marshall and Sidney Ward put Harlow 25-10 up. Chingford then rallied and scored two tries followed by another try for Harlow by Michael Donavan leaving Harlow victorious at 35-20.
There were some great performances from the Harlow and Chingford players and on-loan players from Chingford all played with commitment. The Chingford players and coaches were a credit to their club and we look forward to some keenly contested games against them in the future.

Harlow Team: Mitchell Miller (Scrum Half), Michael Donavan (Second Row), Sidney Ward (Prop), Alfie Dowsett (Centre), Olly Marshall (Prop), Jude Clarke (Fly Half)
