Harlow Rugby Club Youth Round Up Sunday 25th September 2005. Brentwood Colts 3 Harlow Colts 10. In a fiercely contested match at Brentwood the Harlow Colts made it three wins out of three scoring two tries to a penalty goal. After a period of end to end play Brentwood kicked a penalty to lead 3-0. Harlow then made all the running for the remainder of the first half and spent the last ten minutes of that half camped in Brentwood’s twenty two. Eventually on the stroke of half time Scrum half Neil Fitzpatrick, who had only been on the field for five minutes, peeled away from a maul to cross the line. In the second half Harlow again took the game to their hosts. Hooker Kieron McArdie playing his first game for the Club was impressive winning several balls against the head. Prop Ross Delgreco playing out of position at flanker also had an excellent game until he left the field with a head injury near the end of the match. Harlow continued to apply all the pressure and ten minutes into the half winger Mark Rundell cut inside, threaded his way through the Brentwood pack and forced his way over the line to give Harlow a convincing victory. Harlow Colts. Kanobar, McArdie, Newberry, Thomas, Brennan, Mouncey, Hayden, Delgreco, Claridge (Capt.), Fitzpatrick. Kavanagh, Kent-Pope, Heapy, Banks, Hearne, Quinton, Rundell.
Harlow Under 17’s 0 Brentwood Under 17’s 17. With their side decimated by injuries the Harlow Under 17’s were able to put out only fourteen men on Sunday and when a winger was injured in the first half they played two short. Despite that they put up a valiant fight playing most of the first half in Brentwood’s half of the pitch. Brentwood only found their way into Harlow’s half twice but on one of those visits they scored a try which was unconverted. With the score at 5-0 Harlow began to feel the pressure in the second half. They only conceded two more tries during the half and still made several assaults on the Brentwood line, scrum half Charlie Woodington only inches short of scoring. The last ten minutes saw Harlow trying desperately to score that try but Brentwood held fast . Harlow Under 17’s. Pike, Davies, Elston, Ellis, Swanton, Jarvis, Brown, Woodington, Hills, Adams (Capt.), Ford, Tucker, Marriage, Clark. Brentwood Under 16’s 29 Harlow Under 16’s 0. Harlow found themselves defending as they played up the slope in the first half and Michael Weston at number 8 shone as the Young Rams kept the score down to ten points. New boy Stefan Archer played his first game for the Club at inside centre and showed lots of promise, but as the match wore on the Harlow boys’ defence tired and Brentwood ran in three more tries. Harlow Under 16’s. Carter (Capt.), Barnes, Ashoori, Ansell, Daglish, Clark.James, Ashcroft, Weston, Hayden, Hockley, Read, Bowering, Archer, Jenna, Hitchcock, Mortimer, Clark.Jamie, Edwards, King. Harlow Under 14’s 0. Brentwood Under 14’s 70. The Junior Rams were overwhelmed by a far stronger and more skilled side at Ram Gorse. Brentwood was a big side which had been very well drilled and their forwards dominated the possession supported by a set of speedy three quarters whose handling was excellent. Harlow has to defend throughout and it was no disgrace to lose to such a talented side. Jordan Cable at number 8, Conor Sampson and Alfie Elston all played very well for their team. Harlow Under 13’s. Heaton, Hayden, Potter, Heaney, Arundel, Harris, Docherty, Cable, Hammond, Davidson, Gregory, Smith, Almond, Sampson, Pike, Burroughes, McWilliams, Patnell, Elston, Mortimer. Harlow Under 13’s 58 Brentwood Under 13’s 0. Harlow under13’s celebrated their first win of the season running in ten tries against a plucky Brentwood side. Harlow lead by 31-0 at the interval thanks to tries from Jamie Sunshine, Ryan Blackman, Denzil Crafton and Ben Hockley who scored two. Number 10 Ryan McGlone put over three conversions. Try scorers in the second half were Ryan Clark, Charlie Beckwith, Ryan McGlone, Andrew Goodchild and Chris Turner, who also converted his try. This was a good performance by the Junior Rams who played their best rugby to date this year. Harlow Under 13’s. Sunshine, Blackman, Clark, Beckwith, Crafton, Hockley, McGlone, Goodchild, Turner, Weston, Flynn, Preater, West, Mortimer, Elmer, Stocker.
